Apotheosis: Terragenesis Part II - Masters of Time and Place

“In the first part of Terragenesis, we created an entire world from nothingness, but if you dropped players into this world, there would still be something critical missing. That something is a sense of history, which can build that ever – elusive but absolutely essential sense of place. Your world has been through a lot before the players arrived on the scene, and once the continents have been placed and the seas have been divided, the moons set in the sky and the first humanoids start blinking their eyes, we have wind up the engine of history and create a past to build towards the present that the players' characters are born into. We have to write that history, with the goal of building a world that feels like it has always been there, just waiting to be discovered.”

(Author's Note: Once again, while built with the needs of Game Masters in mind, the material in this panel is useful to all sorts of creative people who need to create a new and believable fictional world. The techniques taught in this panel can also be used to snarl the strands of history that weave the history of an altered version of our own reality. If you need a place for your story to begin, at the end of a history you have written for it, this is the panel for you.)

Topics include:

- How to weave the threads of history from the foundations of civilization to the present day
- Building a sense of place through the creation of countries and nationalities
- Wars, Plagues, Natural Disasters, and other ways to sever the thread of history
- Lost Civilizations and Vanished Histories for the Players to discover
- Moving towards the present using the tide of history to create the current political climate.
